The book that I am reading is called, "Help for the Haunted" by John Searles. This story is about a 14 - year old girl, named Sylvie, who goes through life in a different and complicated way all because of what her parents do for a living. Her parents work with spirits and ghosts and they help people get rid of negative spirits in their homes. Obviously, this is a rare and unusual occupation for parents to have so you could imagine why Sylvie hasn't really told anyone about it. She is already a shy and quiet kid so she doesn't want people to judge her anymore than they already do for just being herself so she keeps this secret to herself.
This story has an interesting and lively plot for many different reasons. Something big happens in the beginning that really starts the book off with a powerful and unexpected twist. This major event does affect the plot and the story overall. It kind of forms an idea of what it is going to be about and what is going to happen. Even though I am not finished with the book, I can tell that it is going to be interesting and I predict that the main characters will definitely evolve and become dynamic characters. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves reading mysterious and adventurous books and enjoys a plot that is always action-packed and lively.
This book "Help for the Haunted" sounds like a good book that I have never heard of before. It isn't that type of book that most people read. I like how you said that you think that the characters will become dynamic, that is a good use of that term. Also I like how you said that the plot it lively for many reasons. Why would the characters be dynamic? and what is your favorite thing about the book?
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a very interesting book. I have a connection to this book through a movie called The Conjuring. In this movie the Husband and Wife are spiritual workers. In this movie i can feel how it would be a emotional consuming job for any family. I have a connection to when the character keeps his family info secret in the book An Absolutely True Dairy of a A Part Time Indian, the character comes from a completely different background as his area. This book looks interesting in how the author can connect a character to a person using their background. Cool post.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds really good! I think I would enjoy it a lot! I also like how you give a brief summary but the summary doesn't really contain many spoilers. I think I would like this book because I love action packed mysteries. I can't wait to read this.
